PREPARATION TIPS FOR HAJJ / UMRAH

TRAVELLING THROUGH AN APPOINTED TRAVEL AGENCY

It is important to identify whether the travel agency of your choice is an appointed agent by The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Malaysia or Tabung Haji Malaysia. This will ensure that your visa application & travel plan is hassle free. Please click on the following links below:-

KEEP EXTRA COPIES OF YOUR IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS

You should make extra photocopies of  your important documents such as passport, visa, insurance, flight ticket, hotel confirmation; etc. You can also make soft copies of those documents & keep them in your smartphone, laptop or tablet or send them through email to a trusted family member or yourself.

PACKING DAILY NECESSARY ITEMS

Firstly, be informed of the baggage allowance on your airline carrier (also take note of items allowed for hand-carry).  Then, make a check-list (or a mental check-list) of things you will need. If you are under medication, make sure to bring extra dosage or keep pictures of those medicines so that you will be able to find them at the local pharmacies in Makkah or Madinah. Even if you are not under medication, do bring medicines suitable for headache, common flu or cough should you fall sick. Do not forget, your electronic items are only allowed in the hand-carry. Bring your Quran or Umrah & Hajj Guide Book preferably in the hand-carry. Bring your chargers, USB cables & universal adapters. Make sure to pack enough clothing for your trip. Bring clothes that are not revealing. Make sure to bring enough or extra undergarments. Do not exceed the amount of baggage allowance!

IHRAM

If you will be departing to Jeddah Airport to perform Umrah first, make sure you have your ihram with you. For the men, you can either wear the ihram at the airport or in the aircraft. Ladies can either wear the prayer veil (telekung), any long hijab, abaya; etc. The airline carrier will announce the distance to the point of Miqat in the aircraft. Do keep in mind of the do's & dont's of wearing the ihram to avoid paying Dam. Maintain a calm state of mind & be patient.

PERFORMING UMRAH

When you see the Kaabah for the first time, you may feel excited, thankful, overwhelmed & happy. Do not rush or hurry as there will be many people doing Tawaf. Make lots of duaa & ask Allah S.W.T. for forgiveness or whatever you desire. Stay calm at all times & recite Dhikr or any Quranic supplications. When travelling in a group, you will be guided by the Group Leader (Mutawwif). Please follow the instructions of your Group Leader. Set up & remember the meeting point, should you ever get lost or separated from the group.

ZIARAH RAUDHAH - NABAWI MOSQUE

When in Madinah, you will be living in one of the hotels near to the Nabawi Mosque. There, you will offer the five obligatory prayers in the Mosque daily throughout your duration of your stay (or as many as you are able to). It is a must for you to visit the Raudhah atleast once to say Salaam to Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. & his sahabah . The Raudhah is where the Green Dome is located, where our beloved Prophet Muhammad S.A.W., Abu Bakr As-Siddiq & Umar Ibn Al-Khattab are buried. For the men, it is easy to visit the Raudhah as it is open to them at all times. For ladies, there is a certain time set by the Mosque to visit the Raudhah due to the rush & amount of people daily & you may find out the timings from the female workers in the Mosque.

CONNECTING WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS

WIFI is available in the hotels at Makkah & Madinah. You may also purchase the local sim card with internet data plan at the airport upon arriving. Although, it may take a some time due to long queues & registration process. Sim cards can also be found nearby your hotels.
